Target Audience - Survey monkey

To find out what people look for in a music video I created a survey on survey money asking questions that relate to everything in a music video for example the location, props and costumes.

Lego House - Ed Sheeran (Male option)

This is another idea of a music video using a male actor. This video by Ed Sheeran has so many different angles and simple yet effective shots which adds to the genre of the video. This sort of video would be perfect to film in locations around Jersey as the scenic landscape could capture a good feeling for an Indie video like this. This video is a lot different to my other choice 'Jar of Hearts' firstly because one is female and the other is male but the genre and mood of the song is completely different. I am not yet decided on my final song as i feel that both have a lot of potential.

This shot introduces the actor who is going to feature in the music video. It's a good way to introduce your main actor as it's not a full body shot, it focus's mainly on his upper half including his face. This is a good shot as it's in a simple setting with a neutral background which makes his orange jumper stand out.

I like this shot as it is a very brief glimpse of his side walking. It is a short clip only lasting a few seconds however i think it good to use different angles at different distances to introduce dimension.

This shot almost sets the location, even though it isn't an obvious place it shows that he's near a tour bus representing that he's a singer or at a location where a singer may be which then relates with the rest of the music video.

Here is another location shot, this time showing just the location and where it's set. A slight faded effect has been added which makes the weather look darker and more dull than normal.

Here is another close up shot however this is of no significance just a colourful shot of the actor doing something.

Here is another shot in a different location featuring the actor using a prop (the guitar) as well as singing whilst the camera moves around. The contrast with the colours works really well too as there are neutral colours in the brick as well as the bright colour of his guitar and the green of his t-shirt.

Here is a close up shot of his face which is lit up with artificial light. It focus's really well on his expression using the colour in the lights and reflection. The colours work really well in this shot.

This shot near the end of the music video shows the actor featured in the music video and the actual artist who sings the song played in the music video, this is a brief shot however anyone watching the video will know that it is featuring the music artist.

Photoshop - phonebox

I followed a tutorial on how to produce this phone box on a pontoon tutorial. To produce the final image i had to cut several different images using different tools on photoshop to make sure it was as close and precise as possible i used eraser tools to make the outlines perfect which therefore made the final product look as sharp as possible.

I used a tool to make sure that the sky that I had placed on top of the background on another layer blended well and also changed the opacity so that the colours could mix together too.

This is after i added the pontoon where i had to create and blend the shadows into the water where i then placed the telephone box.

This is the original picture where i got the phone box from. I used the cropping tool to remove the telephone box which i then cut and placed onto the sea and sky background.

This is a screenshot of me moving the phone box onto the pontoon.

Photoshop - Book

I used photoshop to produce a final image. Here are some shots of each step.

This is a shot of the book after i had removed the contents enabling me to insert the base which would be a grass carpet which i would then add things to.

This is the book with the grass as the base which i had to fit to the size of the book.  I have also added a road on the right hand side which i bent using a curve tool.

Here is a close up of the edge of the road which i would later on add some shadow on to make it look more like it is in the distance. I also had to make sure that it had a clean line so it didn't overlap the grass.

Here i have added a street light to add to the picture. I had to add some shadows with a shading tool which would help make it look like there was sun in the sky. I would then have to do the rest of the shadows going in the same direction to create a sense of natural light coming through.

Here is the final piece. I added in some more trees and put shadows around them too. I also added my name in the bottom left corner.

Audition Song

Christina Perri - Jar of Hearts

I know I can't take one more step towards you
Cause all that's waiting is regret
And don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore?
You lost the love I loved the most
I learned to live, half-alive
And now you want me one more time
And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?
I hear you're asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms
I've learned to live, half-alive
Now you want me one more time
Who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?
Dear, it took so long
Just to feel alright
Remember how to put back
The light in my eyes
I wish I had missed
The first time that we kissed
'Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back you don't get to get me back
Who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Don't come back at all
And who do you think you are?
Runnin' 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all
Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?

Final Song Choice

Feet don't fail me now
Take me to the finish line
All my heart, it breaks every step that I take
But I'm hoping that the gates,
They'll tell me that you're mine
Walking through the city streets
Is it by mistake or design?
I feel so alone on a Friday night
Can you make it feel like home, if I tell you you're mine
It's like I told you honey

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough
I don't know why
Keep making me laugh,
Let's go get high
The road is long, we carry on
Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane
Choose your last words
This is the last time
Cause you and I, we were born to die

Lost but now I am found
I can see but once I was blind
I was so confused as a little child
Tried to take what I could get
Scared that I couldn't find
All the answers, honey

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough
I don't know why
Keep making me laugh,
Let's go get high
The road is long, we carry on
Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane
Choose your last words,
This is the last time
Cause you and I
We were born to die
We were born to die
We were born to die

Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough
I don't know why
Keep making me laugh,
Let's go get high
The road is long, we carry on
Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane
Choose your last words
This is the last time
Cause You and I
We were born to die
We were born to die

Location

I have chosen to film in two different locations, i filmed in St Ouen near some dry ground and grass to contrast with my different location which was near another beach down in Gorey which is more of a coastal area near a castle and a long beach.

Storyboard/Animatic

Here is my animatic, it is a sequence of my storyboard images put together with my final song.

Main Artist

Georgie Clifford

This is the actress who i am going to use for my music video. I have filmed with her before and she follows directions very well. I chose Georgie to be in my music video as i think that her look was a good enough match to the song that i chose which was 'Lana Del Rey - Born to Die'. Her look allows me to take different sides to the song as she can be either demure or lively.

Here are some shots of her whilst filming.
